1. Welcome and Introduction
Mission and Values
- Cahoots Workshop is a queer-led, inclusive space for women and gender-diverse people
- Prioritise empowerment, community, skill-sharing, and sustainability
- Values of inclusivity, feminism, queer pride, safety, and respect
Memberships explained
- Full members can use the space during Member Hours
- Typically 7am-10pm, but you must check the calendar
- Drop-in members can use the space during Drop In hours - see calendar
- How to become a Full Member
- In person induction
- Accept induction agreement, Cahoots policies etc
- Show photo ID
- Start your $1/week verification payments
- Take at least three tool trainings
- Congratulations, you’re a full member and you’ll get your door code!
2. Tour of the Space
- General
- Show woodwork, metalwork, closet and kitchen
- Show bike lockup if required
- Assembly point
- Particular hazards
- CNCs (plasma, router and printers) can move by themselves
- Band saw’s are not tables
- In metalwork things may be hot
- The Closet
- Free period products (supplied by Endo Warriors Aotearoa)
- Bag hooks
- Kitchen
- Waste
- Recycling - hard plastics, glass, paper/cardboard, metals
- Compost
- Sharps (in workshop)
- General waste - includes treated and laminated timber
- Firewood - non-treated, non-laminated timber only, the odd screw/nail is ok
- Dishwasher - clean/dirty sign
- Label your things - eat unlabelled things
- Doorbell
- It’s loud
- How to cancel
- Outside drop-in hours, you can answer the door but don’t let people in
- Compressor
- Kicks in and runs every so often
